Why shorten a PTO shaft?
Why shorten a PTO shaft?
PTO-driven implements get their power from a PTO shaft that connects your tractor’s PTO to the implement’s gearbox. The PTO shaft that comes with your implement may need to be shortened to make sure it connects the implement to your particular tractor correctly. If this shaft isn’t the proper length, operating the implement could cause great harm to the tractor’s PTO, the implement’s gearbox, or both.
Shortening the PTO shaft is something we recommend you have done at your John Deere dealership if at all possible.
