Features
John Deere Cold Planer attachments powered by Wirtgen Cutting Technology
CP24G Cold Planer
John Deere and the Wirtgen Group, the market leading in milling, teamed up on a lineup of new Cold Planer attachments based on customer demands and John Deere’s expertise in the compact equipment market coupled with Wirtgen’s expertise and technological capabilities in milling.
- The design and functionality of the cold planing attachments are based off Wirtgen’s expertise from decades of milling technology experience.
- Seamless integration of these attachments can be achieved on a majority of John Deere’s lineup of skid steers and compact track loaders.
- High quality surfaces and near perfect matches with previous and subsequent lanes can be achieved.
- Common components and designs from larger Wirtgen mills are found within these cold planers including items such as the drum design, tools, and holders.
Enhance operator convenience with easy to view Cold Planer parameter tools
View of Pressure Gauge and Tilt and Depth Indicators
Strategic placement of critical Cold Planer performance indicators allows for effortless visibility and monitoring from within the operator's cab, optimizing operational efficiency.
- Optional pressure gauge provides real time feedback on power consumption to prevent stalling of the attachment which could result in productivity loss.
- This pressure gauge can also be a useful tool for training new operators on how to properly or more efficiently use a cold planing attachment on a skid steer or compact track loader (CTL)
- The standard depth indicator arrows are found on both sides of the Cold Planer. These indicator arrows are stationary, which ensures operators are viewing the depths from the same angle with every pass.
- Tilt indicator, also standard, is located in the middle of the Cold Planer for additional easy viewing from the seat of the cab
- Red marker indicators on both sides of the Cold Planer provide an easy view of the where the left and right-side milling drum is located. This ensures increased performance when cold planing around obstacles like manhole covers.
Reduce manual labor with compact yet robust design
Zero edge view of Cold Planer
Side plates with boundary markers
Front spillage guard
Maintaining a compact size for cold planing attachments is crucial since anything beyond the reach of the cold planers necessitates manual removal, leading to additional time and labor requirements at the worksite.
- Best in class zero edge measurement of 50.8 mm (2 in.) ensures that precise milling can take place next to curbs and guardrails.
- Side plates are made of wear resistant skid material and are able to pivot to follow the ground profile.
- Lower part of the plate is easily replaceable after normal wear and tear from cold planing activities
- Modular extensions on the side plates keeps material in front of the cold planer and help ensure the previously milled lane is kept clean from debris.
- The side plates include front and rear boundary indicators, along with an instructional sticker, enabling easier management of gradual depth cutting in specific areas for operators.
- Front spillage guard is made from a robust impact resistant material and is automated to lift and lower depending on the milling depth setting and reduces spillage of milled asphalt to make jobsite cleaning much quicker.
- Cold planer can horizontally slide from left to right for better customization and control on projects
Convenient and accessible pick exchange process
Picks on Cold Planer drum
John Deere cold planers offer easy access and standard tools for exchanging out worn picks with new ones.
- Unlike competitive offerings, there is not a door to open on the front of the cold planer that requires bolting shut and limited accessibility to edge picks
- Simply raise and tilt the attachment and lock it in place to prevent excess movement of the drum
- Standard ergonomic pick replacement pull hammer tool and copper hammer are included with every cold planer making it easy to remove and reattach picks
- It is convenient to store both tools on the left side of attachment for on the fly pick replacement
Exclusive and innovative Tilt Float/Tilt Lock feature
Tilt Float/Tilt Lock in action
The patent pending Tilt Float/Tilt Lock function on John Deere cold planers is an easy to use feature that enables near perfect pass matching resulting in smoother milled surfaces
- After an initial pass has been made, this feature enables operators to easily adjust the cold planer on the next pass to match up almost perfect with the first match to create a smooth surface and help prevent re-milling of surfaces.
- When the feature is engaged, the milling head moves independently from the mainframe of the machine, meaning that even if the skid steer or compact track loader drives over an object or obstacle on the job, the cold planer will stay level.
- Unlike competitors that have similar offerings, the Tilt Float/Tilt Lock feature on John Deere cold planers is activated from within the cab and can be done on the fly for better precision.
